My Weird List of “Clothing” Verbs
In my book I wrote:
(You can sock or belt someone. I wonder if there are any other clothing words, like skirt, that mean to do something unrelated to clothing . . . you know, verbs. I’m going to make a list on my website. You can help me.)
How about you come up with some other clothing verbs. They can be real or made up. Just put them in your comment. Here’s my example to get you started:
collar: arrest a suspect
“All the evidence pointed to Kevin ‘The Welcher’ as the guilty one, so Detective Armack collared him and brought him to the police station.”
(Det. Armack is me…get it? R. Mack…)
Now it’s your turn. Got any ideas? (Gimme your verb, definition and a sentence…like I did above.)
What the heck just happened???? Sorry it posted two, Cheesie!
Maybe watched is one? Does that count? It’s not really clothing. . .
I like it! I never thought about “watched.”
Maybe watched is one? Does that count?
Boot… like to give someone the boot.ok im gonna sit in the corner for 15 minutes now cause no one understands what the heck i am talking about…
I understand. You booted yourself into a corner.
What about this one?Gown. When some girls wear a big gown and they spin around with it.
Panted ,. duh.

OH GOSH! I JUST REALIZED THAT I DID IT WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DID BODY PARTSSSSSS! SORRY< MACK!
Pant? Pant leg, I mean. Foot, as in, a foot long. Lip, like, an edge or rim, hip, like, the projecting part of each side of the body formed by the side of the pelvis and the upper part of the femur and the flesh covering them, and like, “I am HIP, bro.”.
tongue. Well, tongue is a part of a human, and an analogous organ in invertebrate animals, so it sort of counts. 🙂
Socked
Watched
Pantsed
Zipped
Buttoned
Braced(braces)
Those are excellent!

I like stocking people.”spying on people”.
It’s actually “stalking,” not “stocking.”
dart, a pointed line in sewing, and darting is running
elbow, the elbow area, a karate of taekwondo elbow
patch, flies, heel, knee, strap, train, tuck, vent are others.
Whoa. That’s a terrific list.

cuff, as in handcuffs or on your shirt
cuff means to slap someone, too
Good one.
hat as in hat trick?
for 3 in a row or game
nah. In that case, hat means hat.
dress: how should I dress?
pants: the dog pants really loud
shoe: I was a shoe in to win
Your first one (dress) isn’t right, but the other two are terrif!
Hat could mean hate! (hat/hate. DUH!)
Underwear:1.underestimating what people wear.
I underweared you, your clothes look amazing.
2.wearing something under your clothes.
I will underwear today.
Very clever and original!
Hi, Cheesie. You came up with some wonderful ideas. I look up to you as an author. By the way, collar: good one. How about band, like June probably puts in her hair.
Those are excellent clothing words.
Goon, not June! She is even more awful than I am to my little brothers 🙂
pant, my dog pants 24/7
Good one! (pant, pant)
Blue dress: i dress the tree on Christmas.
Good one!
Thx! U da best!
Tie: I will tie my brother up.
Shoe: I will shoo the flies away.
Ring: The phone rings a lot.
Three good ones!
Shoo(shoe). To escort someone or something away. I will now shoo my brother out of my room because he is messing with my stuff,
That’s a good one! I asked my dad and he said shoo/shoe are homophones, which means they sound alike, but have different meanings.
Underwear- under where
Skirt-to avoid something.
But I already wrote that one in my book.
See at the top of this page.
(You can sock or belt someone. I wonder if there are any other clothing words, like skirt, that mean to do something unrelated to clothing . . . you know, verbs. I’m going to make a list on my website. You can help me.)
gloved- “The out-fielder gloved the ball.”
That doesn’t work because it means the same thing. You are gloving the ball with your glove.
skirt is like i skirt around the feild shirt would probably mean well you know pants is Hey everybody i just pantsed Alisson
Ring: The telephone will ring
Excellent! (A ring isn’t exactly “clothing,” but CLOSE ENOUGH for me.) I would NEVER have thought of that one.
A dog will pant when it is breathing hard.
Awesome!
I just told my dog Deeb what you wrote…and she panted at me!
Tie:tie someone around something
Good going, Tom. I think you just “tied” RustyJ for my Comment Champ of the Week (if such an honor actually existed).
boot:kick something hard
“I booted the soccer ball across the field.”
Excellent. RustyJ, you’d be a “shoe-in” [get it?] for my Comment Champ of the Week (if such an honor actually existed).
*Head: You can head someone with your head
*Butt: You can butt someone with your butt
You can head a ball in soccer. Good one!
And you can give someone a head butt! Two good ones!
EXCEPT…neither “head” nor “butt” are articles of clothing! These belong on my weird body parts page!
